'Big Endian Prebuilt Font'

It's a file that contains a pre-rasterized (and possibly
hand-tuned) set of bitmaps (in several sizes) that Display
PostScript can use to render specific sizes of a typeface
to the screen faster.

Their presence is not strictly necessary, and they can
be removed if you need the space.

The bitmap font files on NeXT computers use this extension. They
aren't strictly required, since it's a Display PostScript machine and
will render any font just from the outlines, but the bitmap screen
fonts do exist in 10, 12, 14, 18, and 24 point sizes.
