A level 1 question. Is the builtin ISOLatin1 encoding vector universally supported? The red book (old) implies that there is just the standard encoding vector but my LW II NTX will accept refernces to the latin1 vector. Is this always there and just an oversight in the red book? or is it only implemented in some printers?

The built-in definition of ISOLatin1Encoding became standard in Adobe's PostScript Level 1 products starting with version 40.0, circa 1987. At the same time, the standard character set for Adobe's Type 1 fonts (including built-in fonts) was enlarged to include certain characters required by ISOLatin1Encoding, including eth, thorn, yacute, and a few others. -- Ed Taft taft@adobe.com ...decwrl!adobe!taft
