Hello all I'm interested if anyone has written an HP-LaserJet emulation package for PostScript interpreters (and in general, in other printer emulations) . I realise that this might be a FAQ, but I haven't seen such a thing on this newsgroup. I'd be very grateful for any information email replies preferred - I'll summarise if necessary. best wishes john Nicoll -- john nicoll (jkn@ohm.york.ac.uk) Department of Electronics University of York Heslington YORK YO1 5DD U.K NEW PHONE! There are two different packages. One is called lj2ps, t'other is hp2pbm. The former does a relatively limited emulation of PCL (ie: not including fonts downloads, graphics) to spit out Postscript using PostScript's fonts (which means that there are often problems with font metrics). Hp2pbm (PL3) can convert all of PCL4 (including fonts, macros, rasters etc.) into Poskanzer's Portable Bitmap format, and pbm2ps (part of hp2pbm PL3) can then generate a PostScript raster that is theoretically bit-for-bit identical with what would have been printed on a HP Laserjet. lj2ps was in comp.sources.unix I think. hp2pbm in comp.sources.misc. -- Chris Lewis; clewis@ferret.ocunix.on.ca; Phone: Canada 613 832-0541 Psroff 3.0 info: psroff-request@ferret.ocunix.on.ca Ferret list: ferret-request@ferret.ocunix.on.ca
