I am looking for an inexpensive laser printer, preferably one that supports Postscript. I realize that Ghostscript is available to drive most laser printers, but this is an expensive solution in terms of print times and integration into standard packages that directly support Postscript. This printer will be low volume and used on an IBM PC platform. I am looking for experiences both good and bad about these low end printers. Examples of experiences include problems in setup or use, consumable replenishment issues, overall performance, quality of output, expandability to support complex outputs (e.g., multiple fonts, large bitmaps, etc.), etc. I believe that the TI MicroLaser supports Postscript directly and is reasonably priced, but I have no information on itsperformance, compatability, reliability, etc. The QMS 410 is another choice but is more expensive. Are there other solutions that give 3-4 pages per minute and support or are capable of supporting the standard 35 fonts used by the Laserwriter? Please email any responses directly to me, and I will summarize for the news group. Thanks in advance for any experiences that you can share.
