I'm working on a text formatter which needs to handle ISO-Latin-1
encoded text. I was able to find a post from greid@adobe.COM (Glenn
Reid) from back in '89. This post showed how to define the appropriate
encoding vector if it didn't already exist, and to check that the
printer font has the appropriate characters. I find that my printer
doesn't have the appropriate characters (it's an old Laserwriter). Am I
out of luck?

Looking at the original standard Adobe character set I find only three
characters I don't think I can easily generate from others... thorn,
and eth. The rest can be constructed from other characters, or are
provided in the symbol font. Does anyone know of any place where I
could find an example of adding composite characters to an existing font?

Thanks for any info,
-Rob Ryan
