PPD file equivalent for HP printers?
#6581

Is there a printer capability file format describing the device
specific attributes of HP-PCL (4/5) and HP-GL(/2) printers and
plotters (in the same way that Adobe PPD files describe PostScript
devices)?

Has HP defined such a format?

I notice that in the release tree for CorelDraw V2.00.2 for X, the
printer driver subdirectory contains some `.hpd' files for HP printers,
as well as `.ppd' files for PostScript. Is this `.hpd' format a standard,
or is it a Corel homebrew? - anyone at Corel Systems able to comment?

Thanks,

Ed.
