SATELLITE TELECONFERENCE "Industrial Relevance of Computational Logic
and Machine Learning"
WEDNESDAY 6 September 1995, 14.30 - 17.00 (CET).
12.30 - 15.00 (GMT)
Is there anyone in Edinburgh with equipment capable of receving this,
and who will be tuning in? The requirements are as follows:
HOW TO RECEIVE THE TELECONFERENCE :
The EuroPACE 2000 channel
Satellite EUTELSAT 2F1 (position : 13 degrees East)
Down link frequency : 12.58366 GHz / Polarisation Vertical
(Transponder 46) Transmission standard : PAL
Audio (monolingual English) : 6.6 MHz MHz
Audio de-emphasis : J17
REQUIREMENTS FOR RECEIVING EQUIPMENT
Input frequency range : 930 - 2050 MHz
Double band LNB (offset frequencies generally found :
band 1 = 9750 MHz, band 2 = 10750 = MHz)

The following is the rest of the message, explaining in more detail what
the Teleconference is about
AIM :
This teleconference is intended to demonstrate the industrial relevance
of computational logic and machine learning by a number of case studies.
Each panellist will present one (or more) succesful applications in
computational logic and/or machine learning and relate them to the
underlying technology. Discussion time will focus on common issues and
future trends. Spectators may ask questions to panellists over the
phone/fax/email.
PANELLISTS :
Ivan Bratko (University of Ljubljana, Jozef Stefan Institute,Slovenia) :
Applications of Machine Learning
Philip Kay (Cosytec, France)
Industrial Applications of Constraint Logic Programming
Stephen Muggleton (University of Oxford, UK)
Applications of Inductive Logic Programming
Peter Reintjes (IBM, USA)
Prolog applications
David Scott Warren (SUNY at Stony Brook, USA)
Research in Computational Logic
MODERATOR:
Carol Vorderman
WHO SHOULD WATCH :
All persons interested in the state-of-the-art and industrial relevance
of computational logic and machine learning. Presentations will be
accessable also to non-specialists. Discussion time may be more
technical.
CONTEXT :
This teleconference is organised on the occasion of a joint workshop of
the ESPRIT Networks of Excellence Compulog Net and MLnet. It is also
the first broadcast of the EOUN Project on "Advanced Computer Science"
ORGANISERS :
Maurice Bruynooghe (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, B)
