Imagine ANSI C, but with lisp syntax and lisp macros. I.e. a lisp dialect that translates directly to C and needs no implicit runtime library. Sort of like the ratfor idea, but lisp->c instead of c->fortran. If I have to program in C because my program has to run on several architectures and it has to be really small and fast, at least I could have decent syntax and macros. Now add some sugar to this, like cond which returns a value instead of switch which doesn't, etc. ... Anyone have such a thing? --dave yost
