Dear readers

I am undertaking a PhD in Design and Diagnosis ( eg. design for testability,
test generation etc are involved in my work) as a result I have been asked to
get familiar with VHDL and to study it in some detail.

I am at the moment very much ignorent of hardware descriptive languages and so
I was wondering if any one out there who is experienced in this field could
provide me with some references on this topic which could get me going.
Also I have recently installed LINUX on my 486 PC which is a PD UNIX
envrionment so is there any way that I could get a PD software to help me learn
VHDL or not ?
