A VB application I wrote some time ago has mysteriously stopped working on a number of Win95 machines, reporting an error 7... out of memory. I tried reinstalling an updated version of this app, which now includes several more DLLs, and the installation fails, reporting that it can not update the registry. Can anyone give me any clues as to why these 2 problems are occurring? Regards, Mark Kline.

Hi Mark, other than NT, the registry in Win95 has a size limit. Old Win95 installations reach the size limit after some years (I think it's around 2 Megs or so) and this means there is no memory left to add something to the registry. Win 98 has a tool that shrinks the registry size, and NT 4.0 can change the registry's maximum size. But I think with Win 95, your only chance will be reinstalling Win 95. Good luck, Guido. Get RegClean.Exe from MS site. It's much stabler now. -- MikeC Please reply to the group.

Thanks all... I'll try these suggestions. Michael Carton wrote: > BloodPool wrote: > > > > > other than NT, the registry in Win95 has a size limit.
