ACTEL vs XILINX FPGA info needed

I have a few questions about FPGA's. At PairGain we're doing a tradeoff
study between the XILINX system and the Actel system. We've had previous
experience with Actel but now need FPGA's with a higher gate count. The
two parts we're looking at are the XILINX 3090 and the Actel 8000 gate
part. Does anyone have any percent module utilization data for either
part? What type of design was it? Any general comments on either system?
Which part is faster?

Any comments or help you can provide is appreciated...
