There is currently available to qualified candidates a position as a
Corporate Software Technology Manager at Keithley Instruments in
Cleveland, Ohio.

Key Responsibilities
The Software Technology Manager will lead the company-wide effort to
establish Software as a Core Competency.   Our objective is to bring
innovation to bear on software for the test and measurement marketplace
better than any other company in the world.

The Software Technology Manager has a spectrum of responsibilities: 

AWARENESS:  To lead Keithley to be in touch with key trends in software
technology, applications, and development practice.  
- Build and manage a network of contacts and relationships with
appropriate experts 
- Establish and coordinate an internal knowledge base and forums of
communication 
- Assure industry presence for Keithley with regard to the evolution of
standards in software technologies and methods

 VISION: To challenge us to view Test Software at a higher level of abstraction 
- Inspire breakthrough thinking to take us beyond traditional solutions
and incremental product enhancements
 Take the best available technologies and applying them creatively to the
generic elements of the Test Software task

 STRATEGIC PLANNING: To work across business unit and functional
boundaries and establish corporate level integration in strategic planning
on software related issues
- Establish Links to business planning processes (GM, marketing)
- Establish Links to technology planning in engineering groups
- Establish Links to IS planning
 Participate in the Strategic Planning process
 
 SOFTWARE TECHNOLOGY: To draw extensively on  the best state of the art
throughout the software community and drive  it to become the state of
practice at Keithley.
- Identify and communicate  the emergence of strategic and enabling technologies
- Manage a portfolio of technology evaluation projects 
� Information gathering and feasibility investigations
� Prototyping, Proof of concept, and Shared software asset development.
- Coordinate technology transfer to project groups, training, etc. for
tangible benefit to our customer through our products and services.
- To support achievement of excellence in Software Development Processes
- Champion sound systems engineering practice on software intensive
product development throughout the company.
