Hi,
i just installed elm 2.4 PL20, upgrading from elm 2.3PL11.
Environment: SunOS4.1.1, Sun SparkStation II
There were two things:
1) elm refuses to compile with:
redeclaration of utimbuf in leavembox.c
i had to '#define UTIMBUF' in config.h
So the Configure-script doesn't seem correctly set up the configuration file.
2) i'v run into the following:
i tryed to read from a folder ('abc' in maildirectory) for alias 'xyz' from cmd-line
with:
elm -f @xyz
which gave me:
Floating Point Exception signal!
Emergency exit taken! All temp files intact!
If i try to read the folder with the correct foldername:
elm -f =abc
everything is fine.
[From within elm, the change folder command with @xyz works as exspected]
-) Now a question:
i try to tag specific messages according to patterns in the "to"-field, since
^T only searches 'from' and 'subject', i first 'limit' the messages using
'to <pattern>', an then tagging all the selected msgs. Now it would be nice to have
a 'tag'cmd wich moves the msg-pointer to the next msg (like 'n(ext)').
OR is there a more easy way to do that.
Stefan.

i had this same problem with my SPARC 2 running 4.1.2. While There's nothing
really wrong with what you did, you might try changing d_utimbuf to 'define'
in the config.sh instead, and then re-running that.

I haven't tried this. Will check it out.

Sorry to bother again,
i posted an article with the "compile" Problem:
>1) elm refuses to compile with:

after i received some mail, saying that there was no such problem on system xyz
i finaly traced the error down:
i configured and compiled patchlevel 0 of elm 2.4 first , to see if it would compile on
our machine, which left a config.sh file i didn't removed.
Then i applied all 20 patches and configured again. This time Configure used the settings
from the previous configuration. Since Patch 3 deals with utimbuf definition, and
the PL0 requires an #undefine NOUTIMBUF if utimbuf of the system IS used,
i got the wrong PRE-definition in the new Configuration.
Well, this could be seen as "user-error" ;)
=============
Was/is it common sense, that only those msgs should be fed to the (external) pager if
it's linecount would cause scrolling the screen?
Used to 2.3 were ALL msgs were fed to the external pager, it was very - hm, inconsistent-
to see a few msgs in a row by typing <down_arrow> and suddenly getting stoped at the end of
a long msg and having to type "q".
[i know i should use the buildin, but i love to be able to scroll back in long msgs]
BTW: i think elm is really great ---- keep going :0)
Stefan.
