Can anyone explain this: I am using Eudora 6.1 on a Mac running OS X 10.3 A correspondent who uses AOL cannot open explicit attachments, regardless of whether I use Apple Double, Apple Single, BinHex, or Uuencode. However, if I paste the attachment, a .jpg in the case in question, directly into the mail form, turning the mail into .html and making the .jpg an implicit attachment, it goes through fine. My correspondent insists that I'm the only person whose attachments she can't open. I suppose it's possible that I'm the only one using Eudora, though it seems unlikely. Just as a data point, I send attachments Appledoubled (by far the best form of encoding because it's absolutely fine for PeeCee users while preserving all the Mac information for those that can make use of it) to AOL users and never have any trouble. Using Eudora 6.1.1 with OS 10.2.6 and OS 9.2.2. It sounds like your recipient might have a broken system but it's just possible that upgrading from Eudora 6.1 to 6.1.1 might make a difference. It shouldn't- I've been sending Appledoubled attachments to AOL users for years with versions of Eudora from 1.3 something onwards. -- Peter

Perhaps they're using AOL(tm)'s Parental Controls functionality to stop these explicit attachments coming through? AOL(tm)'s newest version of software automatically checks for skin tones in attached .jpg's and refuses to display the image if more than 30% of the body is on display. -- ---------------------------------------------------------------- Lindell B. Are you trying to send more than one attachment at a time? With some (maybe all) versions of AOL users can only receive one attachment per message, so if you are trying to send more than one, you must first bundle all attachments into a zip archive before attaching. -- Kathy - read reviews of other newsgroups in news:news.groups.reviews help for new users at <http://www.aptalaska.net/~kmorgan/> Good Net Keeping Seal of Approval at <http://www.gnksa.org/>
