In article <1993Jan12.191444.19513@twg.com> "David Herron" <david@twg.com> writes: MIME could be a file structuring thing as you're suggesting. It's was designed with mail systems in mind but I can't think of many things which are unique to them. The most obvious is encoding anything not 7-bit clean. But why is MIME *uniquely* suited to this purpose? It's not, but it is available, extensible, and becoming very popular. I don't know about y'all, but at this point in time that's all I need to hear... Marc -- Marc Andreessen Software Development Group National Center for Supercomputing Applications marca@ncsa.uiuc.edu
