Our temporary/permanent arrangement here, sure to send shivers of disgust to e-mail programmers everywhere, has been to comment out the file locking stuff. I'm not a unix programmer, but our temp who has gone on to bigger and better stuff said the SysV locking is a leap of faith anyway. So...women, children, and file locking first. We also inserted a little feature, sure to send serious e-mail programmers to flubbing their lips with their index fingers, giving all pop users the same logins as their uucp system ids. When they are away from their desks and have only laptops with modems, they can call up and get their mail that way, when they are at their desks popper scavenges their /usr/spool/uucp/x...... directory for all of their goodies and appends it to their popper mailbox when they connect via the network. -- Jeff Davis <davis@keats.ca.uky.edu>
