Before I go any farther, I should mention that GEnie is GE's consumer
information service, and that there are a fairly substantial number of
corporate mail users using "private" mail systems on the GEIS network that
have nothing to do with GEnie.

If, however, your friend is on GEnie, this is correct:

It's actually $4.95/month for a base fee (US users only; I'm not familiar
enough with non-US rates to post about them), and it includes a pretty wide
variety of services (with no connection-time charges) in addition to just
mail.

>and $0.40 per outgoing message.

I believe that the current pricing is now $0.30 per 5,000 bytes of text on
both the inbound and outbound sides. In addition, a small charge ($2, I think)
is payable as a "signup" fee. Without signing up, you won't be able to send
mail to your friend.

Actually, the Unix RoundTable on GEnie is providing support, but the first
place to look for information is on the Internet gateway page (p 207) on
GEnie. (There is no "Internet RoundTable" as such.)

After your friend has registered, you can send him mail by appending
@genie.geis.com to his GEmail name. For example, my GEmail is D.KOZINN, so to
send to me the address is d.kozinn@genie.geis.com.
