I have seen various attempts, > but most of them are pretty kludgy. have you seen rnr? then again, the MIME code has improved drastically between the last released version and the development version. before, it pretty much depended on having metamail installed, but now it is quite a bit more capable out-of-the-box. I'm still surprised when I see software get a filename like `foo.gif' marked as `application/octet-stream' and don't even ALLOW the user to try to bring up a GIF viewer on it. > This is one time that Windows really comes into its own - its > much easier to write MIME-compliant mail readers. it's certainly easier to write readers which will pop up 4 windows at once, each running a separate viewer program. but if you are willing to view your attachments serially (one after another), then DOS is fine. (and if you run it in a window under MS NT, then you can still launch all of those fancy 32-bit viewers without doing much more than a `cmd /c viewer %s'.) of course, you'll have a hard time finding a Microsoft Word 6 viewer that runs under plain DOS. -- Russell_Schulz@locutus.ofB.ORG Shad 86c
