Just for the record, Pine uses my c-client e-mail access library and therefore
supports MIME.  User interface access to the MIME data structures is another
issue!  However, the author of Pine showed me an alpha test version which
accessed MIME just before he went on vacation.  It could display images on X
terminals and he was talking about playing sounds on a SUN or NeXT.  It also
sent a multi-media MIME message that MailManager (my c-client application on
the NeXT) was only to happy to show as multi-media.

So, I think the chances are very good there will be a MIME-capable Pine for
public use in the very near future.

C-client and Pine software are available from ftphost.cac.washington.edu on
the mail/ directory.  C-client has been ported to a wide variety of platforms
including various forms of BSD Unix, Mach, Macintosh, DOS, and TOPS-20(!).
Pine at present runs on various BSD Unix; there have been SysV ports although
an official SysV distribution is probably a few weeks away yet.

I hope that netnews uses MIME and not some abortion like NeXTmail or NeXT
NewsGrazer format.  I should note too that Andrew is *not* a competitor to
MIME; the primary author of MIME was one of the primary developers of Andrew
mail.
