All,

Please accept my sincere apologies for the mail server screw-up that caused my
system to keep posting the same message over and over, with expanding
headers... It was caused by a new script I'm using. I haven't figured out how
to fix it yet, but I'm not going to send any messages to any lists from the
server until I figure it out.

Since this is a multimedia mail list, I'll explain briefly... I'm using
QuickMail, which looks for a line starting with "Attn:" and delivers the
message to any user who has the name that follows it. It also pre-pends
messages with a similar "Attn:" line. So the server was finding the "Attn:" in
the incoming message from the list, then sending it back out to the list. This
caught be by surprise because I had only entered the list address on my system,
not in the server. But now I know that the server compiles a database of all
addresses used by the workstations.

It's really kind of stupid, since it assures that these sort of circular things
can happen. And the worst part is that I wouldn't even know about it because
I'd never see the messages. Luckily, I subscribe to the list under a different
address than the one that I use to send messages, so I did receive several
messages from people on the list who were annoyed by the repeating messages.

I think I'm going to modify the outgoing mail script to drop the "Attn:"
line...

Embarrassed,
