I'm currently re-installing IDA-Sendmail (5.65c/1.4.4) [ist this a stable version ?] and am considering digging into the code to change the location of the .forward files. I want to address the well-known problem that the mailserver has to mount all home-dirs if .forward files are used. A better place for these files is IMHO the mail-spool. * it's located on the mail-server * all clients have it mounted The file-name could either be /var/spool/mail/user.forward or /var/spool/mail/fowards/user. File-permissions should be manageable: Same perms for the forward-dir as /tmp. [btw, what ARE the default permissions for the spool dir ? and for /bin/mail ? SUID-root ? ] Has anybody done this already ? Is this considered a good idea ? What traps should I expect ? /Otmar -- |Otmar Lendl (lendl@cosy.sbg.ac.at) | Student of CS & Math at Salzburg | |Akademiestr. 15 A-5020 Salzburg | University (Austria / Europe) | | Put the scrabble away Arthur, it won't save the human race !
