Why does `syslog - openlog' not work with Sendmail and 386/ix

Recently I got Sendmail 5.61 together with IDA 1.2.8. Now I'm porting
this to Interactive 386/ix.

Now the problem is: The call of `openlog' in `main.c' blocks the
process for a reason I do not know.

`logger' and all other programs that call 'syslog', etc. work quite well.
A short program (calls openlog with the same parameters as sendmail does)
also works.

The backtrace is:
	getmsg()
	sockack()
	socket()
	openlog()
	main()

Can you help me?

Thanks
Peter
