making sendmail understand domains

I'm running Ultrix (3.0?) (BSD4.2) on a DS3100 and have a question
regarding sendmail.  I've gotten sendmail to understand domain
address in our domain (<machine>.idsila.com), but I'd like to make it
able to mail to any domain.  I assume I'll need some files containing
mapping info.  My documentation on sendmail sucks.
