    Aha.  Maybe what we need is a GNU "akill", "grepkill", or somesuch. 
We definitely don't want admins to get confused over a command like this,
especially since they're likely to be root when they issue this kind of
command.


    Have you ever set your root shell to be /bin/csh because it's easier
to use, but then accidentally had a space get put between "kill %" and "1"
or have a stupid admin who doesn't fully understand job control so that
they do a "kill 1" when they meant to do a "kill %1"?  Not pretty.  I've
done it, but fortunately not recently.  Took me the better part of a day
to put the pieces of that machine back together.  The other time, someone
did it while I was on the system, but fortunately I was the one on the
console and by that time I knew how to recover, so it only took a few
minutes....

    Blech.  Most unpleasant memories.
