resolv.conf?

When I send multiple copies of a email to people, my local addresses
(user@ECONOMATICS) are rewriten to (user@ECONOMATICS.demon.co.uk).

I need the address to be (user@economatics.co.uk) - how can I do this if
the resolve.conf contains

  domain demon.co.uk

Will changing the resolve.conf file cause any other problems if I connect
using pppd (economat.demon.co.uk)?

Thank you in advance.

It's a good idea to have the domain be
economatics.demon.co.uk, but not essential.

The domain name written into emails is controlled by a
subtle combination of your MUA (the program you use to
compose mail) and your MTA (the program you use to queue and
deliver mail). If you're using sendmail as MTA, you could
try to change the following line (in /etc/sendmail.cf):

# my official domain name
# ... define this only if sendmail cannot automatically determine your domain
#Dj$w.economatics.demon.co.uk
Djeconomatics.co.uk

For exim:

primary_hostname = economatics.co.uk
local_domains = economatics.demon.co.uk:economatics.co.uk

If you're using command-line mail, pine, elm, etc. for your
MUA, then the MTA should rewrite local addresses correctly
for you if reconfigured as above.

If you're using Netscape as your MUA, then you should be
able to set your From and Reply-To addresses to whatever you
want from the Edit -> Preferences -> Mail Identity dialog.

Rich.
