Using the internetexplorer 4.0 with active desktop enabled (shell integration), and having a few subscriptions spread on the desctop: Whenever I start up win95, the system connects automatically (In order to update the desktop I guess). How can I avoid this ??? I have set all my desktop subscriptions to "manual update", and in global properties "dial up" is the "Yes, connect to the internet automatically" box left blank. I've also tried to leave the "Monitor changes to my favorite Web sites" blank. But every time I start win95 - it dials up on my modem ! I use the MS ISDN utility for auto dial up to connect, and in "Internet properties" (control panel) - the "connect to the internet as needed is checked". But anyway - it should not dial up when starting the PC !!! Is this a bug ? (It is a 4.0 beta) Anyone who knows what to do ? Microsoft ? Kindly Peter Frank

In reply to Peter Frank <Franks@post6.tele.dk>, >But every time I start win95 - it dials up on my modem ! >I use the MS ISDN utility for auto dial up to connect, and in "Internet >properties" (control panel) - the "connect to the internet as needed is >checked". But anyway - it should not dial up when starting the PC !!! Try unchecking this box, then. I guess that IE4 is being loaded every time you boot, and because it is being loaded, it connects to the internet. If unchecking this box works, try to get IE4 not to load on startup. -- Laurence Withers, <lwithers@lwithers.demon.co.uk> PGP key available
