How do you start a DOS program, with parameters when running f.ex. explorer under Win95 ??? You can use the MS-DOS prompt of course, but there must be another way to do it ? F.ex if I would start an MS-dos application like this: "EDIT AUTOEXEC.BAT" - is it possible to do it under Win95 somehow ??? I can go to the edit.com in the explorer, and change the properties so it will add the parameter "autoexec.bat" - but that is not a very "clean" solution ! Lots of DOS programs uses parameters (text/numbers), especially when converting formats, so it would be nice to be able to add these parameters easily under Win95. Anyone who knows ? Kindly SurfPete.

You can set parameters with the Start\Run line or right click a DOS shortcut and choose Properties. P.S. 'twould be nice if you wouldn't crosspost so much.

Maybe you already know this, but you can run an MS-DOS program with an icon in a way which prompts you for commandline options. Simply enter a question mark after the program name in the icon's properties: C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\EDIT.EXE ? I've just noticed I'm responding in demon.ip.support.win95, which is inappropriate for this question, but will post anyway as I've already typed this, and it's probably of general interest. You can put a '?' after the program name e.g. c:\windows\command\edit.exe ? This will cause windows to ask for a string - you can give a filename here. Let me know if it works -- Tony Green Anasazi UK tgreen@anasazi.com If wining is not important - whats the point in keeping score? It works perfectly ! In win95 you just enter "properties", and add the ? after the command line - and voila - whenever you run the program, it will prompt you for the parameters - excellent !!! Note, a shortcut will always be generated, when you make this change to the command line - but you can either click on the original com/exe file, or the shortcut - it works no matter what ! Thanks a lot Tony - From Surf Pete.
