Buy a SuperMac 'Digital Film' board for a Macintosh (and get a fast CPU and
a fast disk). This board will digitize/compress in realtime to disk and play
back in real time, data is stored in JPEG format (no interframe). It's
available today, costs ~$6000 and supports NTSC or PAL full screen (no pixel or
line doubling) at full frame rates. Output is either RGB (for a 13"/17"
computer grade monitor) or NTSC/PAL, either S-video or composite. The board
also does sound, it comes bundled with the Adobe Premier 2.0 video editor.

Disclaimer: I work for SuperMac, I'm probably biased, I don't work on the
digital video team so I may be off on some of the specs etc etc check it
out for yourself, have a dealer show you one and try it for real

Use up your Quayle jokes now while they're still good "Quayle for Pres. in '94"
Q: Why is Marilyn Quayle like Marion Barry?
A: They both suck a little dope.
