The new Amiga 4000 will animate 30fps at 640 X 400 (plus overscan I believe)
in its HAM8 mode which is of a 24-bit palette. The EdidMaster JPEG board
from DMI animates in 720 X 486 although the output is composit NTSC. It
probably also outputs through DMI's 24-bit Vivid board... the literature is
not that specific but I assume "connectivity" on "32-bit pixel bus" means it
will output through the board which is as high as 2048 X 2048 res.

For the $42,900 you'd spend on an SGI 4D Crimson Elan, you could buy a
couple or three Amiga systems with Toasters, Vivid boards (100,000 poly/s)
and Digital EditMasters.

from DMI flyer:

HOW DOES THE DIGITAL EDITMASTER COMPARE WITH OTHER SYSTEMS (Avid, Emc2,
Digital Film) ON THE MARKET? -- First, the EditMaster takes advantage
of the up to 33 MB per second tranfer rate of the Amiga bus, not avail-
able on other desktop platforms. This allows video to be digitized into
the system using a very low compression ratio. This is a distict advantage
over digital editing systems operating on other computer platforms.
Second, the EditMaster uses the full motion JPEG chipset from LSI Logic.
The LSI chipset operates internally at a 4:2:2 digital resolution of
720 X 486. Other products, which use the C-Cube JPEG chips, generally
digitize the signal at much lower pixel resolution. Some are as low as
320 X 200. The low compression ratio and full screen resolution allow
Editmaster to output edited video at Betacam quality.
