The Motion Factory, developers of the Motivate 3D Game Development
System would like to invite you to attend our free seminars offered this
year during the E3 Expo in Los Angeles. Motivate Seminars are the
perfect opportunity to get a closer look at the Motivate 3D Game
Development System. This year at E3 were offering 3 different seminars.
The first seminar - Creating More Intelligent Games - is a general
overview designed to give you a once over on all the components of the
technology. The second and third seminars - Dynamic Motion, and Game AI
- address key components of the Motivate System. Plus, everyone that
attends receives a famous Get Motivated! T-shirt!
For a complete description of each seminar, see below.

To register for a Motivate Technical Seminar online visit

E-3 button. Or, you can e-mail your information to
seminars@motion-factory.com. Well contact you prior to the show with
any last minute details.

Motivate Seminar 1 - Creating More Intelligent Games:
This seminar will cover the basic steps required to create intelligent
digital actors using the Motivate system. We will present features of
the
system such as realtime smart IK, motion planning with collision
avoidance,
motion blending, and character game AI programming. We will also discuss

the SDK that comes with Motivate and the issues involved in integrating
the
Motivate motion and behaviors engines with a game application.

Motivate Seminar 2 - Dynamic Motion:
The Motion Factory believes that the next step in creating compelling
and realistic game content is to have powerful motion synthesizers to
drive the animation of game characters. In this seminar we will present
our activity framework for managing various motion algorithms.
Furthermore, we will present and discuss some of the algorithms for our
motion engines, in particular, our locomotion planning engine (for
finding collision free trajectories for characters), our inverse
kinematics driven locomotion synthesizer (for characters moving over
contoured surfaces such as stairs and hills). Time permitting,
demonstrations of other motion synthesizers such as a dynamics
simulation, and a smart IK generator for manipulation motions will be
given.

Motivate Seminar 3 - Game AI:
With the ability to synthesize character motion based on the
environment, a whole new level of game interactivity and game
intelligence is enabled. For example, high level behaviors can be coded
for characters that consist of commands like "go here", "get this",
"jump here", etc. To facilitate this higher level behavior programming,
we have developed a framework based on hierarchical finite state
machines and a scripting language called Piccolo. In this seminar, we
will present this programming framework and demonstrate features in the
Motivate tool that greatly facilitates the process of programming and
debugging character logic or AI.
