I'm considering purchasing a Pine soundcard. The ones under consideration are: Aureal 3D, XG-128 (Yamaha YMF724 chipset), PCI 64 voice (Maestro-1 chip), Solo-1 (ESS solo 1 chipset) They all appear to offer 3 or 4 stereo inputs and a mic input and vary in price from 13 to 26 (i.e. all fairly cheap). I suspect that they may well be slightly older models and newer ones outperform them. Do you have one? What is your opinion of it's sound quality (I'm not looking for the ultimate but my current one is only ISA, has insufficient inputs and has started picking up noise). The last I could possibly cure - it never used to pick up noise so maybe wiring induced. -- Peter Crighton Email To: peter@p-cright.demon.co.uk
