I'm not too happy about the SimTel mess either, but a couple points are
worth making:

1. Coast.net has dropped the ball pretty badly in terms of maintaining/
updating the archives they've taken over, whereas Keith Petersen has
been his usual efficient self in accepting and filing submissions to
the new simtel.net. (Yes, I've posted software submissions to both sides
since the breakup.)

2. Keith has been doing the largely-thankless task of archive maintenance,
and doing it well, for more years than most people have been on the net.
The freeware/shareware community owes him a great deal. Coast.net has
no remotely comparable claim on the loyalties of the community.

I plan to support Keith in this little contretemps, and to send my
future software updates to his archive. You're free to disagree,
of course, but I suggest you look into the facts and the history.

a better idea, I suggest followups go to comp.archives.msdos.d.
