                        Survey of networked multimedia
                        ------------------------------

The survey of distributed multimedia research, standards and products
comissioned by RARE and for which information was solicited recently,
has reached draft status.  By agreement with the chair of the RARE
Multimedia Working Group, the draft survey report is now available by
anonymous ftp for comment.

The draft report contains responses received up to 18 December.  It is
over 100 pages long.  It may be found on:

           ftp.ed.ac.uk:pub/mmsurvey

in files:

           mmsurvey.txt       (Text)
           mmsurvey.ps        (Postscript)

Comments and further information are welcome and should be submitted to
the email address below before 18 January.  It is hoped to release the
final report on 25 January.
