I've been hearing for sometime about Tandy's new multimedia box, that it would run a simplified version of Windows that would be capable of running MPC CDs. I glanced one over today, and it looks to me like it runs software that, well, maybe not exactly propietary, but it doesn't look like it would be runnable elsewhere, nor does it look like it can run MPC stuff. So does anyone know what the deal with this is? I think they have two seperate systems. One is VIS which is like a CD-I
or CDTV player. The other is the "Sensation" which is a 486sx with MPC.
I think the Sensation is just Windows and MPC. VIS probably has its own
OS, though I haven't heard much about it. VIS is meant to be displayed
on a TV and is operated through a remote like CD-I or CDTV.

It is supposed to run a scaled down version of Win 3.1 called Modular Windows. I am still waiting on info from microsoft concerning the development kit, but rumor has it that you can develop under standard Win 3.1 with the right tools. It seems to me that this offers a tremendous advantage over things like CDi
