mn13.zip MIDInight Express 1.3 real time MID renderer

The MIDInight Express is a real time, wavetable MIDI player
which does all its work in software. It will run with any
sound card (correctly installed under Windows 95) capable of
playing 16 bit stereo, 22050 Hz digital audio. It can also
copy its output to a WAV file for quick & dirty MID to WAV
rendering. Last but not least, it's free!

Apart from the usual bug fixes, the main improvement over
version 1.2 is the addition of Drag & Drop support (you can
now drop a MID on the main window to select it for playing).

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: 386+ (486 or better recommended). Hardware
FPU recommended. MS Windows 95. 2.4 MB free
disk space. High quality sound card (16
                     bits/22050 Hz/stereo) strongly recommended.

Is there any similar software for win 3.1?

Have tried DOS-players Cubic Player and Timidity using
GUS-patches.

Timidity sounds very nice but it taxes my venerable 486DX2.

Cubic Player plays most any sound file thrown at it but the
sound quality is lower than that of Timidity, at least on my computer.

One possibility is WinGroove:

	ftp://ftp.tohoku.ac.jp/pub/Windows/Sound/wingroove/wg09d.lzh

which seems to do realtime Midi->WAV for playback on a SB16/AWE at
sample rates from 11kHz to 44kHz - it runs fine on my 486/100. Seems to
work under either 3.1 or Win95, and has a very nice sounding patch set
compressed to only 1Mb.

Unfortunately, I don't read Japanese (which the documentation is in), so
there are a number of options which I'm not sure what they do, though
apparently it can add reverb in real time. Is there anyone else who
uses this and can tell me what the options are on the main screen and
what they do? Thanks.

Hi All,
Dont know of any real time midi to wav software.
Midi Renderer has lots of features, even does pitch bends.

Well, that's pretty basic - would hardly put it into the "lots of features"
department. Of course the MIDInight Express does that, as well as
modulation, on/off velocity, pressure, etc., in real time.
