COLLABORATE WITH COMPOSERS, DANCERS, AND MUSICIANS TO CREATE INTERACTIVE
PERFORMANCES IN PISA, LUCCA, AND MONTEPULCIANO
From experimental dance performance to instrumental new music performance,
from composition to choreography, these seminars will provide invaluable
sources for the course in research in music and music education.

		Composers, dancers, musicians and educators!
Join an international group of students to study with distinguished
NYU faculty, Italian professors and guest artists. This summer, the program
is in residence in Pisa in the spectacular region of Tuscany. Here NYU will
collaborate with the computer music department at the National Center for
Research. Pisa is the former host city for CRIM, Center for Research in
Improvisational Music, and continues to be warmly receptive to new and
experimental music and dance.

Program - Courses are offered which will fulfill requirements in both MA and
doctoral programs. A minimum of 30 points in studies abroad may be applied to
the DA degree. Full time status consists of 9-12 points per summer semester.

Curriculum - For the summer of 1995, we are pleased to offer the core
curriculum courses in Seminar in Composition, Seminar in New Music Performance,
Workshops in Experimental Dance, and Research in Music and Music Education.
The second session offers performance courses in Chamber Music, the New Music
Ensemble, Dance Technique classes, as well as Seminar in Theory. Independent
study courses and some private studies in composition and piano can be arranged
for both graduate and undergraduate students. Undergraduates are invited to
audition to earn credits for participation in performance courses.

Special Students - Students who have an MA degree may wish to enroll in graduate
level work as non matriculating students. Upon successfully completing the
work, they will earn graduate credits. Some classes are also available for one
to three weeks to experienced dancers and musicians who are not seeking graduate
credit.
