Dear all,

I'm in charge of the design of a large LAN environment consisting of 700
LANs and 3000 switches.

I'm looking for a tool that allows my team and me to store central
documentation in the first step for the design, then for the operations.
This tool should be able to:

- Manage VLANs
- Manage IP subnets configured in the switches
- Manage IP addresses configured in the switches (allocation done by
another tool)
- Manage port usage of the switches (what is connected to the switch)
- Generate work orders/config templates
- Calculate power request
- Calculate air conditionning requirment

The tool don't need to be graphical and don't need to scan the network
equipment.

Does anyone have an idea about a products that could fulfil partly or
completely my needs ?

I do apreciate your support and thank you for you help.

Best regards, Guy Corbaz

Hi

I am a bit surprised to read such a request from our main network
provider...

Anyway. You may not find everything in on software.
I like etheral [1] to analyze the network as such.

Beside that status of active network components can be red with an SNMP
tool. You should be able to configure certain things with SNMP too. Just
ask google.

For the calculations of power consumptions has to be calculated from an
engineer as it varies as well as the size of air condition.
The size of the air conditioning can be done from your vendor.

HTH

Kind Regards
Oliver

Microsoft Visio 2000 Enterprise Edition has this Feature. It's possible
to Create Network documentations and maps with SNMP Questions automaticly.
