            PACIFIC SOFTWARE GROUP ANNOUNCES POWERWATCH
POWER PROTECTION SYSTEM FOR UNIX COMPUTERS

LOS ANGELES, CA (October 1, 1992)... John Rimestad, president of
Pacific Software Group (PSG), today announced immediate availability
of its PowerWatch power protection system for Unix-based computers.

PowerWatch monitors and reports on changes in power availability.
When power is lost, a warning is displayed on the system console,
and mail is sent to a specified user. If power is not restored
within a user-defined threshold, then PowerWatch broadcasts a
warning to all users, and an automatic shutdown is initiated.

PowerWatch works with all brands of uninterruptible power supplies
(UPS), and provides increased protection against file system
corruption from power loss. Most UPS systems provide power for a
limited time after power loss, allowing users to shutdown their
system. However, if the system is unattended, UPS power may be
exhausted without a shutdown being initiated. PowerWatch guards
against unexpected power loss, and provides for an automatic system
shutdown, even when the system is unattended.

"What makes PowerWatch special," says John Rimestad, Pacific
Software Group president, "is the control it provides in protecting
valuable filesystem data. Users can determine the interval between
power loss and shutdown, and even who gets notified that a problem
exists."

PowerWatch includes a physical power monitor (a 12-Volt AC adaptor,
the PowerWatch Sensor, and a six-foot cable) and plugs into a
standard serial communications port. An additional PowerWatch
feature maintains a log of all power interruptions, shutdowns and
power restorations for diagnosing power problems.

PowerWatch is available for systems running SCO Xenix and SCO Unix,
for the IBM RISC System/6000 running IBM AIX Version 3, and on the
IBM RT System running AIX/RT. PowerWatch is priced at $149.95 per
CPU, and is available for a special introductory price of $99.95
through November 30, 1992.

Pacific Software Group (PSG), is based in Riverside, California.
