Excelan Inc. announces the EXport 2000 Communications Server for Ethernet networks. Eight ports allow attachment of async devices such as terminals, printers, modems, or host ports to an Ethernet network. Port driver/receiver circuitry conforms to RS-423 as well as RS-232 standards. Rlogin protocol and "raw" TCP protocol are available as well as Telnet protocol. EXport 2000 downloads over the Ethernet from a Network Management Station. It participates in standards-based network management, including Domain Name Service. It is also the first product to incorporate Excelan's Universal Protocol Platform (UPP), and newest fully-featured TCP/IP implementation. The EXport 2000 is priced at $2495 and is available immediately, as is DOS-based Network Management Station software. SunOS-based and VMS-based NMS software will be available in Fall, 1988.
