> ACM seems to think that hiring a full time art director was a step >forward. I suggest they would step further forward if they fired him. >They are obviously doing their art director a disservice, since I am >sure he would be much happier designing the art work for MAD Magazine >or for a comic book. I too disagreed with the look of CACM. Instead of posting, I sent mail to Jim Maurer, the main editor. He was very responsive, and I *did* see changes back last March. Unfortunately, CACM has begun to creep back towards the "Art Director Gone Wild" look this month. Send him your comments directly. He seemed to appreciate them. Be specific. Complain here if he *doesn't* respond. Jim Maurer's email address is jimm@acmvm.bitnet. (ie. use your local bitnet gateway, sigh). Now, the thing I want to know is where to write to get the ACM to take the Internet seriously. I cannot believe the association that publishes SIGCOMM (the reason I joined) still uses BITNET. The ACM should be out front in using the Internet to service its members for dissemination of research and educational purposes. -- Eric Carroll University of Toronto Computing Services Network Development
