The other alternative is vote with your feet.  For $90 a year I received a
journal almost completely irrelevant to my professional needs (communications)
and one that was relevant (SIGCOMM).  I now read the latter in the library and
xerox the articles I want to keep.  ACM could learn a lot from the IEEE and
Spectrum.  Discounting advertising pages, it's one of the few journals that
I read 90% of each issue.

I look forward with interest to the combined IEEE/ACM journal on networking.
It may eliminate my last regrets on dropping my ACM membership.
