In Boston, we use our access to the national list to advertise the local
Professional Development seminars.  We give six of these seminars a year,
charge $70 + membership and usually get about 100-120 people per seminar.

(In case you're interested, the next three are Berard on Object-Oriented
Design, Architecture of Windows NT and Distributed App. Development with RPC.
Send me a us-mail address, and I'll send you a brochure.)

At the seminar, we have a special table at lunch where people who are
interested in volunteering can come and talk about opportunities.  We've
been successful at recruiting 2 to 3 people per seminar.

THe money that is raised by the seminar is then used for outreach and other
new member recruiting activities, plus many other activities.
