You will need to get in touch with your Digital sales/support person,
and ask them for the RISC/ULTRIX 4.2 patch for the following:

	/usr/ucb/ex
	/usr/lib/ex3.7perserve
	/usr/lib/ex3.7recover

The patch tape is dated March 23, 1992

"vi core dumps when attempting to vi a large file from an nfs mounted
file system from a CRAY.

The problem is vi doesn't check if the line buffer size is over the 8k
limit.  (the maximum size that ULTRIX vi can handle is 8k)  Normally,
this line buffer size (bsize) is set to the optional blocksize for the
fuile system io ops (st_blksize) which in the case is 32k on the CRAY
system."
