We're pleased to announce the Spring conference of The Computer Measurement Group's DEC Systems Subgroup (CMG/D) to be held in Dayton, OH, on April 22nd. The conference will feature a DEC Track including 5 sessions on DEC Capacity Planning and Performance. The sessions include: . Stress Testing a Non-Existant Application - Jack Brey, Navistar, discusses modeling and benchmark testing to cheese between use of a CASE tool and ACMS for a new major application. The case study discusses analytical modeling and benchmarking on a VAX 9000. . Business Use of Transactions and Response Time in VMS - Matthew Sullivan, BGS Systems, talks about how business (user) needs can only be serviced by providing enough computing capacity to complete the required work in the required time. This session will discuss some methodologies for measuring and ensuring adequate response time in the VMS environment. . Performance Characteristics of a Client/Server Transaction Processing Model - Dave Butchart, DEC, examines the performance characteristics of a TP monitor (VAX/ACMS) implemented using a client/server distributed architecture in the VAX VMS environment. Performance related implementation and tuning options made possible by client/server architecture will also be explored. . Implementing Capacity Planning for a VAX Cluster - Steve Weisman and Jack Gunther, Booz, Allen & Hamilton, This presentation outlines the process taken to implement capacity planning for a VAX cluster using only the standard DEC VMS performance monitors and tools. VMS Monitor utility for growth trending is illustrated. Additonally, Image-level accounting and ALL-IN-1 Metering utilities are examined to perform a detailed workload characterization and develop planning metrics. . Capacity Planning in a VAX/VMS Environment - Case Studies - Roger Grant DEC, Several case studies of capacity planning n a VAX/VMS environment will be presented. The studies will illustrate real solutions to capacity planning in a large VAXcluster, a client-server application, and an SMP environment. This session will be held at the Fairborn Holiday Inn in Fairborn, OH. The cost is $80.00 per person, including lunch. To register contact: Annette Roth 17x CMG P.O.
