Why reinvent the wheel? DEC has X for both Ultrix and VMS. I'm running
Motif under VMS on my VS2000. I boot from another node, and it's a
problem to fit everything on an RD54 (VMS no longer fits on an RD53).
That's why I boot elsewhere :)

As for the power of the 2000, I have a GPX machine, and I personally
think it's fast enough, as long as you don't plan on doing too many
things.

I run (locally) a couple of DECterms, calendar, calculator, clock,
xcmap, sunclock, and of course the session manager. Sometimes I even
have xroach running, and a girlfriend logged in remotely. Also, I run
ucx, with a finger daemon.

In addition, I usually have a couple of terminals coming from somewhere
else.

Yes, a 2000 is plenty powerful for a personal workstation displaying
windows. If you want to do development on your workstation, get
something bigger :)

BTW: I have 16MB of physical memory. That helps alot. With 8MB or
less, you're outta luck.
