                                     TOPICS
                            Windows NT vs Windows 95
                         Digital and Microsoft Alliance

Advanced Paradigm Inc, voted the number 1 Microsoft
solutions provider, will provide two speakers for the kick
off meeting of the Desktop LUG on Sept 7th at 11 am. API
personnel will give a point-counterpoint presentation
entitled "Battle for the Desktop, NT vs WIN95, No simple
choice". Each speaker will discuss the pros and cons of
moving to Win95 or deploying NT.

Digital and Microsoft just announced a 'strategic alliance
to meet customer demand for Microsoft-based solutions and
support in enterprisewide computing'. Come and learn from
Digital and Microsoft personnel what this means for your
          business.

We're looking for a logo for the LUG!!
Bring your designs to the meeting. We will be awarding a
$50 gift certificate (at the November meeting) for the
design that the steering committee feels best portrays the
theme of Desktop Integration. The winning design will be
used on the LUG home page (which we plan to unveil at this
meeting) and in other LUG material.

The Steering Committee is looking for more members. Please
volunteer if you would like to influence the direction the
LUG takes (if you volunteer now, you can vote on the logo).

                                Future meetings:
November 2 Tim Sylvester, TGV, Inc.
                         Networking products for the PC
January 4 John McMahon, InterCon Systems Corp.
                         PCs and security
          March 7 TBD
          May 2 TBD

Since lunch (probably pizza and soda) will be provided,
please register with Mimi Smyles at (301)918-5809 and
specify how many people from your organization will be
          attending.

          Directions:
Take the Beltway to Exit 23 (Kenilworth Ave.). At Exit 23,
take the Greenbelt exit (bear left from the inner loop or
right from the outer loop). Make the second left onto Ivy
Lane, then make the first right into Capital Office Park.
Digital is in the blue building on the right.

          Best Regards...the DILUG steering committee
