You can anonymously FTP a save-disabled distribution from ftp.metacard.com (directory MetaCard) or from world.std.com (directory pub/MetaCard). We can also email uuencoded distributions, or mail a floppy (free, of course). Mail to info@metacard.com to arrange these last two. Six engines are available: SPARC, Sun3, DECstation, HP-9000/300, HP-9000-700, and SCO ODT. The stacks are portable across platforms. The cost is $495 for a single user, $2500 for a 10 pack. Larger site licenses are available, see the BLURB.txt file on the FTP sites for details. Back to the original posters request, MetaCard can import and display color and monochrome images, but can't import or display PostScript. You could write an external to do this, however (MetaCard's external call mechanism is compatible with that of Apple/Claris HyperCard). If you need to handle PostScript, check out HyperLook, which uses PostScript as its scripting language. It's reportedly as powerful as MetaCard, but is not portable and is much harder to use. The HyperLook runtime system is availiable for free via anonymous ftp, from the following systems: ftp.uu.net (137.39.1.9) graphics/NeWS/HyperLook1.5-runtime.tar.Z turing.com (192.133.90.28) pub/HyperLook1.5-runtime.tar.Z -- *********************************************************************** * Scott Raney 303-447-3936 Remember: the better you look, * * raney@metacard.com the more you'll see -- Lidia * ***********************************************************************
