SUG's 10th Anniversary!

The December 7-10 Conference and Exhibition will be
the tenth birthday for the Sun User Group. For this
special event, we have arranged a program that should be of
interest to everyone in the Sun/SPARC technical community.
The Exhibition, which is being arranged by PCI, promises
to be an exceptionally broad-based one.

Monday, December 7th, will feature at least nine tutorials.
Among these will be:
	(1) Matt Bishop, Dartmouth College,
		Advanced UNIX Security

(2a) Brent Chapman, Great Circle Associates,
		Preparing for Disaster
			and
	(2b) Bob Baldwin, Tandem Computers,
		Why have Computer Security

	(3) Smoot Carl-Mitchell, Texas Internet Consulting,
		Sun Network Debugging

	(4) Tom Christiansen, Convex Computer Corporation,
		Topics in Perl

	(5) Jeffrey S. Haemer, Canary Software,
		Programming in POSIX

	(6) Kenneth Ingham, consultant,
		UNIX Programming Tools

	(7) William LeFebvre, Northwestern University,
		The Internet and its Protocols

	(8) Dinah McNutt, Tivoli Systems,
		Introduction to UNIX System Administration

	(9) Craig Rudlin, MD, Medical Software and Computer Systems,
Integrating C Code and Xt Widgets

The theme for the conference will be ``Solaris 2.0 and
Alternatives.'' As a consequence, the Tuesday morning keynote
address will be given by Steve Bourne, of SunSoft,
the originator of the Bourne shell and manager of the
Solaris development program at Sun. He will speak about:
		Solaris 2.0 and the future

Carrying the conference forward will be Wednesday's
luncheon speaker, Michael Tiemann of Cygnus, who will
speak on freely distributable software -- GNU and
HURD, and Thursday morning's keynote, Rob Kolstad of
BSDI, who will speak on ``BSD on the SPARC.''

We are looking forward to at least five tracks of technical
and vendor presentations. Furthermore, there will be
a number of panel discussions. As has become customary,
Rob Gingell will conduct the Developers' Panel. Rob is asking
for questions in advance, so e-mail your question to
`developers_panel@sug.org'. You can, of course,
ask your question from the floor as well in the event it's not
addressed directly by the panel.
