The Washington Area Computer User Group (WAC) will host a free Personal Computer Upgrade & Repair Clinic for WAC and Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) PC User Group members on Saturday, December 10, 2011. User Group volunteers will be on hand to help with virus and spyware removal, troubleshooting, and hardware and software installations (including GNU/Linux and properly licensed Microsoft Windows operating systems). You must contact us in advance to request assistance; refer to the clinic rules at http://www.wacug.org/clinic.html. John Kennedy of the Licking County (Ohio) Computer Society will give the main presentation by live webinar about free and alternative software. John's presentation will share the many free programs he uses or recommends that take the place of popular "paid" programs. His motto is "try it, you might like it - especially the price!" And if his free software doesn't meet your needs, then he guesses you'll just have to pay the piper. Geof Goodrum will also demonstrate features of the free Ubuntu GNU/ Linux Operating System during the Learn 30 tutorial. The meeting and clinic are scheduled for 12:30 to 3:30 PM on Saturday, December 10th at the OLLI Tallwood campus, 4210 Roberts Road, Fairfax, Virginia. WAC meetings are free and open to the public. Bring a friend! WAC is a general interest computer user group that supports the Microsoft Windows and GNU/Linux operating systems. For more information, visit the WAC web site at http://www.wacug.org/ or call the WAC AnswerLine at (703) 370-7649.
