PLEASE NOTE: New Meeting Location You are invited to the next meeting of the Washington Area Computer User Group (WAC), scheduled on Saturday, January 17th from 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, 4210 Roberts Road, Fairfax, Virginia. The meeting is free and open to the public. Preregistration is not required to attend. At our January meeting, Lorrin Garson will demonstrate the Kindle electronic book reader, for which approximately 190,000 book titles and a dozen magazines and newspaper subscriptions are available from Amazon.com. The device is about the size and weight of a paperback and sells for $359. Books are priced, on the average, at about $9.00 per title, although many are available for considerably less. Does the Kindle have what it takes to replace traditional paper media, or is it just a tech toy? Find out for yourself at this meeting! This meeting will also feature a new "Learn 30" session, in which we will provide a quick summary of five things you need to know to use the most popular e-mail programs/services effectively. WAC is a non-profit general interest computer user group that supports the Microsoft Windows and GNU/Linux operating systems. For more information, visit our web site at http://www.wacug.org/ or e-mail info (at) wacug.org.
